FAQ's Club Social Activity Cover
How much are we covered for in respect of its social activities?
The club liability extension in respect of MSA affiliated clubs provides a limit of indemnity of up to £5,000,000 any one claim.
Who is the insurer with respect to the social activities of the MSA affiliated clubs?
The policy is provided by Brit Insurance and AIG Insurance.
The primary £2,000,000 limit is insured by Brit Insurance.
The £3,000,000 in excess of the primary £2,000,000 is provided by AIG Insurance.
What is the period we are covered for?
The period of cover is from the 1st January 2011 until the 31st December 2011 both days inclusive.
What is a social activity defined as?
The types of social activities which are included are of a non motor sport nature such as:
• Presentation and Award nights
• Annual Dinners
• Anniversary Dinners
• Fundraising events
• Attendance at exhibitions and conferences
• Administrative duties
Please note there are certain exclusions attaching to this cover which your club must understand. These are:
• Participation in motor sport activities of any kind whatsoever
• Use of Pyrotechnics and Explosions
• Overseas activities
• Commercial activities for commercial gain excepting raffles, prize draws and the like
• Employers Liability
This benefit is ideally targeted to MSA clubs who do not engage in commercial activities for financial gain or who do not organise and participate in non MSA permitted motor sport activities. Are we covered for presentation and award nights?
Yes, this cover does extend to these activities subject to the exclusions detailed in the club liability insurance certificate.
Are we covered for annual club dinners, anniversary evenings and the like?
Yes, this cover does extend to these activities subject to the exclusions detailed in the club liability insurance certificate.
Does this cover our clubs for promotional activities and exhibition stands?
Yes, this cover does extend to these activities subject to the exclusions detailed in the club liability insurance certificate.
Are we covered for any motor sport activities not permitted by the MSA?
No, the policy does not extend to cover any activities involving self-propelled activities that are not permitted by the MSA. If your club is conducting motor sport activities of any kind without an MSA permit you must call JLT Sport who may be able to assist in arranging cover.
Does the cover include Employers Liability?
No, the policy does not extend to provide employers liability cover. If your club has employees you will need to maintain a separate
insurance policy which JLT Sport can assist you with.
Do we have to pay any premium for this extension of cover?
No, the MSA together with JLT Sport have negotiated these additional benefits at no extra cost to members.
Are we covered for the provision of food and beverages?
If the provision of food is provided as part of a fundraising or promotional activity and not for commercial gain then this is covered.
Are we covered for slips and trips within the confines of our clubrooms or other areas where we are the occupier of the premises?
Yes, cover extends to premises where you carry out you clubs administrative duties and social activities subject to the exclusions detailed in the club liability insurance certificate.
Do we need to continue with our existing public liability insurance policy?
If your club is considering cancelling its existing insurance policy in lieu of the social activities extension provided by the MSA we recommend you contact JLT Sport to discuss prior to doing so. The club liability extension for social activities is provided subject to certain terms, conditions and exclusions. These include participation in motor sport of any kind and commercial activities for financial gain.
Are we covered for social events outside of the UK?
No, if you require this cover please contact JLT Sport who will assist you.
