JLT Events
JLT host a range of events throughout the year. To find out more click below.
We are committed to service our clients' needs in this growing sector, on a worldwide basis. The capabilities we possess cover:
Bioenergy
We offer risk management and insurance services for the following areas and technology methods:
Biomass - advanced thermal treatment, anaerobic digestion, autoclaving, mechnical biological treatment, combined heat and power, composting, energy from waste, biogas from landfill and mass burn incineration
Biofuels - biodiesel, bioethanol and biomethonal
Geothermal
From planning to construction we are able to provide seamless coverage solutions, which encompass the main risks, namely; geological issues, exploration risk, prototypical technology, critical component failures and loss of production/revenue.
Small Hydro
Hydro power can be exploited at both a large and small scale. The growth in 'green' renewable hydro power generation is related to small scale projects. We classify small hydro as sub 50MW installation. Such schemes (e.g. run-of-the-river, pumped storage and impoundment) are not subject to the same environmental and social concerns that large-scale hydro projects face. Our renewable energy team have extensive experience of small hydro projects, other teams in JLT possess experience of large hydro projects, both on a worldwide basis.
Solar
We have extensive technical strength and understanding of the key solar risks; long lead-in times, prototypical technology, damage during transit and construction, component breakdowns, natural perils including geological risks (earthquake) and weather damage (hail, wind, sandstorms and flood), theft and malicious damage, and business interruption.
Wave & Tidal
We have leveraged our offshore energy capabilities and expertise to cover this embryonic sector. Our knowledge includes the prototypical technologies involved, such as turbine barrages, "in flow" tidal turbines, pressure differentials and wave action buoyancy devices, and how the risks arising from survivability in harsh marine environments and delay in start up.
Wind energy (onshore and offshore)
With extensive worldwide experience - in 2009 we were involved in six major offshore wind energy projects, all of which generated over 100MW of power - we are highly experienced in dealing with both onshore and offshore wind energy risks, including; lightning / blade strikes, technology design and performance, mechanical losses, substation failures, cable damage, availability of spare parts, offshore - access to site, specialist vessel and crew availability, collision and installation in ever deeper waters.
