Piracy Coverage - The Team

The Team

Effective delivery in every area rests fairly and squarely on the shoulders of our people. Their performance record is fully attested in every one of the 5,000 vessels, ports and terminals whose risks we place, stretching from Reykjavik to Perth, Australia and from San Diego to Bangkok.

We take pride in the fact that it is through the skills of our 50- plus marine insurance professionals that we lead the way in the UK in managing global marine-related risks.

JLT's Marine team have participated in the release of four vessels which had been pirated during the past year and, therefore, have first-hand experience in working closely with negotiators and underwriters to secure the release of crew, vessels and cargo.

JLT have formed a Piracy Forum to harness the expertise of the marine team and the Financial Risks Security and Political Risks Division in order to monitor the international, political and legal arena , and the assess the impact on the shipping industry and insurance market.

This forum ensures that JLT remain at the forefront of developments of this crisis which in turn enables us to design solutions and respond to clients concerns as they arise.
