Bill Gloyn is a Partner - European Real Estate of JLT Specialty Limited. As such he is responsible for a number of major clients in the sector and is developing the European real estate specialisation throughout the JLT network.

Bill retired in April 2009 as Chairman, Real Estate Europe within Aon Mergers & Acquisitions Group, having been with that company for over 25 years - leading its European real estate specialisation. He was vice president-insurance of Olympia & York between 1989-1992, remaining insurance consultant to Canary Wharf for another 12 years. He had also been Group Insurance Manager and a director of the property management subsidiary of English Property Corporation plc, a major listed UK property company, in the 1970's.

He is President of the City Property Association, having been elected in April 2008 following a term as Vice-President and re-elected in 2009 for a second year. He was also, until taking that role, a member of the Council of the Westminster Property Owners Association. Bill advises the British Property Federation (BPF) on insurance matters. He is a member of the BPF General Advisory Council, Chairman of the BPF Insurance Committee and BPF representative on the Joint Contracts Tribunal insurance committee. Bill is also a member of the Construction Committee of the City of London Law Society. He is a member of the Investment Property Forum sustainability interest group - reflecting his interest in climate change and flood.

A frequent contributor to the property and construction media, he is in regular demand as a consultant in complex multi-party contractual negotiations where the resolution of insurance issues requires a highly experienced and pragmatic approach. Readers of Property Week, for which he is a columnist, voted him as the 26th most influential person in UK real estate in its most recent poll
