Appointment of Managing Director, North Asia

 

9th July 2010, Hong Kong:  Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) Asia has appointed Doug White as Managing Director of its North Asia business. In this capacity, Doug will be based in Hong Kong and oversee JLT Asia's operations and business in China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.

In addition to his North Asia responsibilities, Doug will focus on developing and expanding JLT Asia's product and service propositions to Financial Institutions and explore the expansion of distribution channels in this sector. Working with our senior colleagues, Doug will also look to identify acquisition opportunities across the region.

Doug has extensive experience in the insurance industry, as a broker, insurance consultant, underwriter, and loss adjuster. His appointment is in line with JLT Asia's strategy of recruiting exceptionally qualified and experienced senior personnel that can bring real value to JLT and its clients.

In 2000 Doug was appointed an Executive Director of HSBC Insurance Brokers (Asia-Pacific) Limited with responsibility for the company's Special Risks, China and Claims Divisions, before being promoted to Chief Operating Officer and then Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong business in 2003. In 2007, he was appointed to the Board of HSBC Insurance Brokers Limited, overseeing Hong Kong, Singapore, mainland China, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, and India.

Doug is currently the Chairman of the Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers, the body responsible for the regulation of insurance brokers in Hong Kong.
