Meet Kelly, one of our graduates from the class of 2004
I graduated from Edinburgh University with an MA in Classics and joined JLT in 2004 as a graduate trainee.
Since Joining JLT I have worked in the Construction division, specialising in UK and European projects and in particular projects involving public private finance. I’ve worked on a number of large construction projects, such as the Olympics and the M25 tenders, and have had the opportunity to gain experience of direct broking in the London market. I am now an account executive on certain projects and am responsible for the placing and day to day running of those projects.
Training here has exceeded my expectations. Most employees are encouraged, through revision courses and financial incentives, to obtain their ACII qualification (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and this helps complement the day-to-day on the job training. Last year I obtained my ACII qualification and just recently, through JLT, I attended an intensive market underwriting engineering course in Germany.
I really enjoy working for a dynamic and very flexible company that offers a variety of opportunities for anyone who has the tenacity and drive to succeed. No two days are ever the same!

Meet Adèle, she gets to use her language skills
I joined JLT on the 2004 graduate scheme after completing a BA Hons in modern languages at Exeter University and an MSc at the University of Bath.
I had no background or experience in insurance and I chose JLT predominantly because I was treated exceptionally well at the graduate recruitment day and the role seemed to suit my skill set and background. I wanted to work in an environment where people matter and that is what I have found at JLT. As I had no background in the industry, I was learning in a very supportive environment and given full on the job and academic training from day one. JLT is also an incredibly flexible organisation and I have recently moved into my third role.
I now work within the Managed Accounts team which is part of Global Risk Solutions, this role has broadened my experience and allows me to use my language skills when managing the insurance programmes of large multinational companies, with operations based around the world.
JLT is a young, vibrant organisation to work for, and one which gives everyone the opportunity to develop and advance their career.

Meet Tom, he's learnt so much about onshore energy construction
I have been with JLT since graduating from Nottingham Business School in 2004. Active involvement in account handling and broking support for large Onshore Energy accounts all over the world has included visits to some of these projects, most recently in USA and the Middle East.
I began along with 12 other graduates and we were all placed within different areas of the business. All of us were immediately placed into job roles which held responsibility and that added real value to the team we were placed in. Whilst enjoying the responsibility of an everyday job, I and my fellow graduates also attended monthly business skills and personal development workshops as part of our programme.
I am currently studying for my ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute) which is a globally recognised professional insurance qualification. Each graduate on the development programme is fully supported whilst working towards this qualification, as well as being financially rewarded on its successful completion.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at JLT and would encourage all graduates to involve themselves both in their new professional capacity and on the social side of what JLT offers from day one.
