First Impressions of JLT -
Starting work straight from university was daunting at first and the most difficult part was getting up every morning, but everyone here was really friendly and settling in was no problem.
What's your role -
My role mainly involves valuing pensions. This can be done for an individual or for a whole company which can take quite along time. Most of the work is done on computers but you still have to think about what you're doing.
What have you done since you've started -
Since I have started I have been on a couple of day training programs within the company. I have also received material so I can study for the Actuarial exams I will be taking in April. As well as this I get study days in which I can stay home to revise for the exams.
Most of my time at work is spent on projects which can take a couple of weeks to complete but we also have a lot of other work which helps keep things varied.
Social Side -
The social aspect of working with JLT is good. We play 5-a-side football one evening most weeks and on Fridays most of the staff go out together after work. We also had a team outing recently when we went bowling then had a night out afterwards.
Advice to future applicants -
JLT is a really good company to work for and there is a lot of support available for the studying which you have to do to become an actuary.
