Meet Gillian who joined our
Global Risk Solutions division in 2008
Gillian also studied Risk Management at Glasgow but left Scotland in September last year to join JLT's Graduate Development Programme along with 9 other graduates, she works in the Global Risk Solutions team.
"I had previously worked in the Insurance industry and knew of the main players so when it came to looking for jobs I investigated JLT and was impressed at what I found out. JLT is a strong company and have invested a lot in their Graduate Scheme, it provides a strong foundation for the rest of your career.
I work as an Account Handler in the Global Support Team. On a day to day basis I am involved in the coordination of a number of Global Insurance Programmes. I am also working on a project that looks at measuring the profitability and development of accounts. My line manager and MD have offered me a lot of support and are creating opportunities for me to develop an understanding of Global Risk Solutions as a whole.
JLT supports you to become involved in areas that you express an interest in, it is a very entrepreneurial organisation and helps you to develop your ideas and confidence in expressing these ideas. I am currently developing my knowledge in the servicing of Global Programmes, to enhance my learning I am looking forward to gaining some experience in the placing of these programmes in the London Market. Lloyds of London is a truly inspirational place to work.
My advice for someone looking to break into the industry is to do your research, there are so many different and fascinating areas to specialise in!"
